Theatre Arts Classes!
See below for details on classes & activities that will begin in September! Classes will be taught by APOD’s Artistic Team including our Music Directors, Peter Hanes & Vitoria Payne; Acting Instructors, Rebecca Payne & Natalie Brooks; Choreographer, Heidi Payne; and Make-up, Artist Mike Long
Tuition is $30 per month (unless otherwise noted) plus a $25 registration fee. Classes will run week of Sept 16 – early April. (Note: registration is per student, not per class, so a student can take multiple classes for one registration fee. Tuition is per student, per class.) Questions? Contact us!
Acting Workshop -Improv & Sketches – Youth Choir – Choreography – Theatrical Make-up
Acting Workshop – Ages 13-19 – An acting class culminating in a performance in APOD’s One-Act Festival next spring. Students will spend the fall developing performance skills through fun games, challenging exercises and workshopping comic and serious scenes. Starting in January they will begin rehearsing for a one-act play during regular class time. All students will have a speaking role. The week of the show there will be one or two extra rehearsals as well as performances. Due to the nature of this class – space is limited! Instructor/Director Rebecca Payne, 1912 Center, Friendship Hall. Tuesdays, 4:30 (Class runs an hour and 20 minutes.)
Improv & Sketches – Ages 8-12 – Gain confidence and learn the art of performance in this high energy, fast paced class! Students will learn improvisational games and activities, comic sketches and more! Students will perform in APOD’s Theatre Showcase in April. Instructor Natalie Brooks, 1912 Center, Friendship Hall. Tuesdays, 3:30 (Class runs 50 minutes)
Youth Choir – ages 13-19. 1912 Center, Friendship Hall, Tuesdays 6-7pm – Choir Directors: Peter Hanes and Tory Payne. Participation fee – $75 plus $25 registration fee.
Choreography for Musical Theatre – ages 13-19. (ages 11-12 with dance experience) Students in this class will improve their dance skills through learning high energy choreography routines. Some of the routines will be performed in APOD’s Theatre Showcase in early April. – Instructor Heidi Payne, Mondays 4-5pm Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre
Theatrical Make-up – Ages 14 & up –

Explore the magic of theatre makeup and learn the basics to create various looks for the stage. Theatre makeup is a fundamental aspect of bringing characters to life and immersing audiences in the performance.
This training program will equip you with the tools you’ll need to create different looks, from basic beauty makeup to special effects. You’ll gain hands-on experience with various products, tools, and techniques. Students will learn how to put together a basic make-up kit that can be used for any production. No experience necessary. Thursdays, 4pm-5pm, Instructor: Mike Long. In Moscow (Exact location TBA.)

**APOD Youth: Leadership Initiative is a group of young adults who have been involved with APOD as students in our workshops, performers in our shows, and volunteers in our various activities. They are now gaining hands-on experience in areas of leadership in our organization.
